He then used his success with the teen duo to launch the careers of Da Brat, Bow Wow, Jagged Edge, Anthony Hamilton, Xscape, J-Kwon and many more.<p>As CEO of So So Def Recordings, JD helped push dozens of platinum and gold albums and even got a few platinum albums for himself. With a stack of platinum plaques and a roster that couldn’t be beat, JD quickly became known as a certified hitmaker.</p><p>But JD hasn’t only made history with the artists under the So So Def umbrella; our president has worked with some of the biggest artists in the industry, like Usher and Mariah Carey. He’s also won a Grammy, been named Songwriter of the Year six times by the ASCAP and has over 19 No. 1 R&B hits.</p><p>Like a true mogul, he’s now set his sites to takeover other industries. Just this past year JD created Café Dupri, a quality restaurant that only serves healthy options. He’s also released an autobiography detailing his business and personal life as well as worked with Cartier to create a limited edition set of eyewear where proceeds go to The Atlanta Community Food Bank and City of Refuge. Both of which are local liaisons for the Hurricane Relief Fund.</p><p>Although he’s already a legendary musician and a successful entrepreneur, JD continues to make history. This past year, JD worked with TAG Body Spray and Island Def Jam to help form this historical label, TAG Records. And of course he was appointed President.
